consumo 3Nowadays, advertising uses a vast range of persuasion techniques enticing consumers to buy products. But prior to the fulfilment of advertising and marketing objectives, which is the sale of products, there is a huge research project into both the product being sold and the consumer to whom the products are being targeted. With regards to the latter, it is very important to know their lifestyle and the way they think, their values, likes, attitudes, how to attract their attention etc. In other words, the study of human behaviour is absolutely essential and that´s where psychology comes in, or more specifically the contribution of Social psychology.

To create new needs and as a consequence stimulate our tendency to purchase, the advertiser knows that the product itself is of least significance and that the main protagonist is what will be associated with each one and the emotions they produce such as security, happiness, comfort, etc.
